A visit to the laboratories of Turin's chocalatiers will make you realise that cocoa first entered into Italy through Turin. Infact, the first official licence of "ciocolate" was released in Turin in 1678, even though the new drink had been known since the time of Emanuele Filiberto (1528-1580) and his son Carlo Emanuele I through contact with the Spanish court for domestic and military reasons. This can all be confermed by entering this cafe/cakeshop which opened in 1858. It boasts handmade production (in the laboratory annex) of a rich chocolate praline and handmade "gianduiotti", cut with a knife and individually wrapped. They make Easter eggs on request and panettoni with specific decorations. During a quick stop here you will have time to enjoy a good cup of coffee or hot chocolate.
