The water fountains around the city that provide drinking water to thirsty passers-by are known to the Torinesi as 'toretti' (young bulls). They are usually a simple column lined with green metal with the head of a bull at the top from whose mouth the water spurts. The first 'toretti' made their appearance in the early 1930's but have become less numerous recently.
