The first official licence for 'ciocolaté' was given in Italy in 1678 by the royal madam Giovanna Battista to Gio Antonio Ari with 'the privilege to publicly sell chocolate as a drink and to be the first to introduce this to Turin'. This was the beginning of a story which would lead to Turin being considered as the capital of 'made in Italy' chocolate. Gertosio continues this tradition, in partnership with other chocolate masters, it has its own workshop where all the work is carried out, starting from the cocoa which is directly imported from Sri Lanka and South America to the finished product. More than 50 types of chocolate can be found here and they also sell excellent cakes, made from chocolate and fruit.
