Festivals and Fairs

Turin with its glorious historical background presents a series of important events throughout the year, from the annual Book Fair ("Fiera del Libro") where the most famous publishing houses display all their new and old books supported by a series of conferences with special sections for art and children.

Another cultural event takes place in November for a whole week: The Turin's Film Festival.
It's main focus is to present the work of new filmmakers, actors and artists promoting new films and ideas.

In February, in a town called Ivrea, near Turin, one of most spectacular Italian festivals take part in whatr is know as "The Battle of the Oranges" where tons of oranges are thrown by the various villages, celebrating at the end with a feast of the local polenta.

Eurochocolate Torino represents Turin celebration of chocolate products, with tastings, shows and workshops while the Salone Del Gusto is one of the world's biggest food fairs.
